Princess Paloma had a boyfriend, a handsome young prince by the name of Peter. Alas, he wasn't very good with money, and when he couldn't make the payment on their rental magical coach, he bailed and stuck Paloma with the bill... and stuck when said carriage changed back into a pumpkin.
Pepon was a very friendly pumpkin, at least. And being stuck together, they'd end up becoming friends. Especially once they realized all the OTHER stuff he could turn into!
There's not a lot to the nursery rhyme Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, but I borrowed some stuff from Cinderella for this character too. At first I thought Pepon's face would just be a face shaped window that Paloma had chewed, but then I thought I might as well make the "pumpkin shell" in the rhyme another character. Peter himself I'm just thinking of as a selfish, deadbeat boyfriend in this version, like a Prince UnCharming. I think they live in a squash themed kingdom someplace.
Anyhoo, been having a heck of a time coming up with reimaginings of fairy tale characters lately, and Thanksgiving's coming up, so these two seem particularly relevant!
And, Lon has other ideas, of course.
